Information You Enter
Search Requests
When a visitor enters a name or date into a search widget, the query goes to the third-party provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and returns its own result. The site does not keep a log of search terms entered in that widget.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or other message, the message may be kept so the team can answer it. It is not shared outside the organization unless a legal duty requires disclosure.
Technical and Visit Data
When a page loads, the web server may receive standard technical details about the visit, including:
- IP address associated with the connection
- Browser type and version
- Device and operating system
- Pages opened and time spent
- Referring site, if one was used
- Time stamps for page views
Cookies and Traffic Measures
Cookies are small files stored by a browser. The site uses them and analytics services to understand broad traffic patterns, such as which pages draw visits and where people leave. Browser settings can block cookies, though a feature may then work differently.
How Information Is Used
- To keep pages available and improve load time
- To send a search query to the provider selected by the visitor
- To see which information is useful and where content needs work
- To diagnose technical errors
- To display advertising that may relate to general interests
No Warrant Database Is Hosted
Montgomery County Warrant Records does not host, compile, maintain, or sell warrant lists, case files, or individual warrant histories. The site describes where Virginia court and law-enforcement records may be requested. A public records request to a government office is governed by that office’s rules and applicable law, not by this privacy notice.
Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act, including Va. Code §2.2-3704, addresses existing public records held by public bodies. It does not make this private site a public-records custodian or consumer reporting agency.
Outside Search Providers
Search widgets on some pages are run by outside companies. Information entered into a widget is handled under that provider’s privacy notice and retention practices. The site does not control how a provider uses or shares those submissions. Review its terms before entering personal information.
For official court information, use Virginia OCIS; it is separate from any sponsored search tool.
Links to Government and Other Sites
Pages may link to Virginia court systems, county and Sheriff offices, town police, and outside services. Opening an outside site means its privacy rules apply. Read that notice before sharing personal details.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites. Those tracking practices are controlled by the partner, not by this site.
Who May Receive Information
The site does not sell personal information. Information may be processed by:
- Search providers that handle a visitor’s query
- Analytics services measuring page use
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to a valid legal order
Keeping Data Secure
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information handled by the site. No internet system can be promised free from every risk, so the site cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Younger Than 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent personal information, contact the site operator so the information can be reviewed and removed.
Requests About Your Information
A visitor may ask what information the site holds, request a correction, ask for deletion, or opt out of certain data processing. These requests concern information handled by the private site. The Virginia FOIA process applies to existing government records, such as eligible records held by Montgomery County or its courts, rather than to this website’s internal data.
For official Montgomery County records, use the county’s FOIA request instructions and identify the existing record and office that holds it.
Policy Changes
The privacy notice may be revised. A revised version will appear here with a new effective date, so visitors can review the current practices.
Effective date: September 24, 2026
